“What are business’s concerns about using a professional video production company?”

With all the hype about Ai, today I thought I’d ask ChatGPT this question !

“What are business’s concerns about using a professional video production company?”

ChatGPT said:

Great question — when businesses consider hiring a professional video production company, they’re usually weighing a mix of practical concerns, budget fears, and control over the message. Here are the most common concerns that pop up:

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

I’ve added my responses to each concern.

1. Cost vs. ROI

  • Concern: “Is this really worth the money?”
  • Many businesses worry the price tag won’t deliver a return — especially small to mid-sized companies.
  • They may not understand how video can directly impact sales, brand awareness, or engagement.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

I understand the concern. Firstly a professional video production may not be as expensive as you think, there are many ways to produce a video. Ultimately video is a communication tool to deliver a message and there are many ways to do that depending on your product or service and the logistics involved, i.e. people and locations.

Video is not a stand alone tool, it is likely to be part of a marketing strategy that needs to be thought of from a holistic approach.

Of course not all videos are to promote a sale, we also produce informative videos to educate on health & safety for example.

2. Time Commitment

  • Concern: “How long will this take?”
  • Video production can involve planning, filming, edits, and revisions — which can feel overwhelming if they’re already juggling other priorities.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

We aim to make the process as easy as possible for you, yes we will need some input from you after all you are the experts in your business, but pulling the whole project together is what we do.

So your input can be as little as :-

  • Creating the original brief, so we know what you are trying to achieve.
  • Providing us with some background information, so we can write a script or create the graphics.
  • Providing any assets including your brand guidelines which we will adhere to throughout.

3. Creative Control

  • Concern: “Will they capture our brand voice?”
  • There’s often anxiety about whether the production team will “get it” — their brand, their tone, their audience.
  • Businesses may fear ending up with something that feels generic or off-brand.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

We have done this before and can provide examples from a variety of companies across many industries to show how the end result fits perfectly into their brand. Distinct brands like Vodafone, Baxter Healthcare and NFU Mutual. Check the examples on our portfolio. Here’s the link. AVInteractive Portfolio.

4. Bad Past Experiences

  • Concern: “We’ve done this before and didn’t love the results.”
  • If a business previously worked with a freelancer or agency and didn’t see results (or felt communication was poor), they’ll hesitate to invest again.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

We’re sorry to hear you may have had a bad experience, sadly there are good and bad in every industry, however please look at our  5 star google reviews from real clients and our client testimonials at the bottom of our “about page” page.

5. Lack of Understanding About the Process

  • Concern: “What am I actually paying for?”
  • Some clients may not understand the full value — like scripting, storyboarding, lighting, editing, post-production — and may assume it’s “just filming.”

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

Creating a video is generally a time intensive process, along with the use of specialised equipment and software. What you get is decades of experience in knowing how to pull everything together.

In a nut shell and depending on the project we do some or all of the following:-

  • We plan the whole project based on your brief
  • We write the script
  • We create storyboards so you get a visual representation of the final video or animation
  • We arrange the logistics of any filming, people and places (sometimes with your input)
  • We arrange the right crew
  • We arrange travel and accommodation for crew
  • We prepare and test all the kit prior to filming
  • We arrange professional voice over auditions and shortlisting
  • We select and shortlist music and pay for a copyright licence
  • We acquire any stock footage or images and pay for their licence
  • We produce risk assessments for filming and drone operations
  • We arrange permissions for filming locations and drone permissions
  • We make backups of all media and update them regularly
  • We edit the content together after the shoot
  • We provide review versions online for your feedback
  • We make any requested changes
  • We provide you with a final video in an agreed digital format
  • We archive the project including all the media should you wish to reuse it in the future

So as you can see we do quite a lot 🙂

6. Uncertainty About Strategy

  • Concern: “Where do we even use the video?”
  • If they don’t have a clear marketing strategy, businesses might worry the video will just “sit on YouTube” without doing much.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

This is a very good point and as I have eluded to before a video (certainly if it’s for promotion) needs to be part of a strategy.

Sometimes clients overlook that a video can have multiple uses beyond the original. A video can be recut for alternative platforms or uses, such as short snippets for social media, reels or perhaps an event teaser for a regular event.

⚙️ 7. Flexibility and Revisions

  • Concern: “What if we don’t like the first draft?”
  • They want to know how easy it is to make changes, how many revisions are included, and how involved they’ll be in the feedback loop.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

Editing is a creative process and subjective to the viewer, whilst we try and follow the brief as accurately as possible we understand that you may wish to make changes which are absolutely no problem and part of our process. As a rule we create version 1 following the brief and encourage all stake holders to view version 1 and feedback in a single consolidated list. We then address the feedback and give you version 2, which we believe should fulfil the brief. If you feel you are likely to need more revisions we’d be happy to discuss and agree that at the start of the project. We understand that larger businesses may need a slightly more complex and staged review process.

Bonus: Choosing the Right Team

  • Concern: “How do we know who to trust?”
  • With so many video companies and freelancers out there, it’s tough to pick someone with the right experience, style, and communication approach.

Marc@AVInteractive’s response :-

This one is straightforward, look at our past work and experience there are plenty of examples on our portfolio page and that is just the tip of the iceberg, we can show you many more examples if we have an idea of what you’re looking for.
